Rose Haven Quarter Horses

Training

Training is available on either a monthly or weekly basis.  We're glad to offer a weekly rateso if your horse doesn't need a full month's training, you're not paying for it! Additionally, we find many owners prefer the weekly rate, as it allows us to focus on a specific exercise or manuver that the more-finished horse may need.

We teach all of our horses the basics, patiently instilling within them a strong foundation of essential skills (not just "taking the buck" out of them)The importance of a solid foundation never changes: whether you one day plan on competing in Western or English, or just simply enjoyng the beauty of the trail, your horse will know what it needs to, so you can enjoy it no matter what your discipline may be. We also trail ride on both the road and in the woodsThis adds variety to their training, as well as giving them a wide range of  "real-world" experiences from which to draw upon. We take our horses out both alone and with groups, so you will have a horse you can confidently ride by yourself when you get him back home.

For horses that are ready, we offer a range of cow work, from beginner introduction to advanced finished work. Let us know if this interests you, and we'll be happy to discuss the current training level of your cowhorse, and our charges.

Naturally, feed is included unless your horse needs something special; then we ask that you bring it with you when you drop your horse off.

Many people ask how long their horse will need to be here.  All horses are different and learn at different rates.  We encourage you to come watch and ride your horse while it is here, as it helps you to be able to ride your horse better when you get it home. And, it also helps you know that your horse is coming along softly, the way you want it toWe teach you the cues that your horse is learning, and at the same time, you can let us know if there is something that you want us to work on.  Of course, we do NOT charge extra for this!

Tali

Tali is an 8 yr old mare.  When she came to us she was quite argumentative, and would buck and rear instead of moving forward.  She was also lazy and liked to lag behind the rest of the riders on trail rides.  She was here for only 30 days.  After just a month, Tali would willingly and softly ride right off when asked (will lead or follow other horses) and go where you ask her to.

Blu

"I just wanted to say that you and Rick did a FABULOUS job with BLU.  When I first looked at her to buy, she was very pushy on the ground no manners at all.  Knowing that she had not had much handling in almost 3 years, I was hoping she would come around.  WOW what an amazing turn around with her. BLU is the MOST AMAZING horse I have ever owned. She has such a level head on her shoulders. There isn't anything that BLU wont do for me and she just wants to please all the time.  I just cant say enough...  Thank you for doing such an amazing job with her."

Soldier

Soldier was a 2 yr old stud when he came.   He was gelded and had 60 days put on him.  When he came he had had very limited handling.   He came along nicely and by the time he left was riding great.  He was quiet enough for a beginner and would go where ever we asked.
